Amatsu is a Japanese healing therapy that’s as old as acupuncture but not as famous.

Sharon Dempsey is a fully qualified Amatsu Therapist and acupuncturist with a thriving practice in Feltwell.  And as January is National Amatsu Awareness Month, Sharon is spreading the word so that more people can benefit from this amazing therapy.

Sharon has practiced complementary therapies for over 15 years.  When she discovered Amatsu therapy she was captivated by its effectiveness and immediately wanted to learn more.  In 2014 she qualified as a practitioner and has not looked back since.  Neither, she says, have her clients.  “People are getting better quicker and they’re staying well for longer” she says “It’s great to see folks with pain or mobility problems being able to get out and enjoy life”

What is Amatsu Therapy?

Amatsu is a way of encouraging the body to heal itself.  It doesn’t use drugs or surgery.  Instead, an Amatsu therapist will find and treat the source of the problem using gentle massage and manipulation.  Patients usually start to notice the benefits after the first couple of treatments – although everyone’s body is different in terms of how quickly it heals.

Western medicine tends to treat symptoms separately.  So for example, if you have tummy troubles, back pain and depression, you may have help from three different specialists.  Amatsu sees everything in the body as being connected so the same therapist would seek to improve all three situations with the same treatment programme.

An Amatsu therapist can also suggest lifestyle changes that will help speed the healing process.

Amatsu works on all sorts of ailments, including

  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Mobility problems
  • Digestive upsets (including IBS)
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Migraine
  • Sports injuries
  • Low energy levels
